Our
process
Strategy
In this initial stage, we set up a clear plan to ensure the website meets your goals. We’ll:
- Questionnaire: Send you a survey to understand the features your site needs.
- Kick-Off Meeting: Have a call to discuss your business goals, customer needs, competitors, and more to create a strategic website plan.
- Theme Selection: Recommend 1-2 Shopify themes that offer the features your store needs.
Design
This phase focuses on creating the look and feel of your website to match your brand’s goals. We’ll:
- Custom Figma Mockups: Design your homepage and product page in Figma, including custom layouts, branding, colors, and new sections where needed. These mockups establish the visual direction for the rest of your theme-based website.
Development
With the design mockups approved, we start building the website. Throughout, we’ll provide links so you can see progress in real time. This phase includes:
- Theme Setup: Customize the theme to match the design.
- Page Creation: Build all required pages based on the design.
- App Integrations: Integrate apps for advanced features.
- Responsive Design: Make sure the website works on desktop, tablet, and mobile.
QA + Testing
Once the initial content is populated, we move to the User Testing & QA phase:
- Issue Tracking: Set up a system in Pastel to track any bugs or issues.
- Final Testing: Review the site and address any issues, ensuring everything works smoothly before launch.
Support
After testing, we’ll make the site live and update your hosting (if needed). For two weeks post-launch, we’ll offer support (up to 5 hours) to make minor adjustments and provide tutorials to help your team manage the website.

What does "custom" mean?
Your website starts with a premium Shopify theme that provides the foundation for your store.
From there, we create custom design mockups in Figma for your homepage and product page, tailored to your brand and goals. Once approved, we bring those designs to life in Shopify with custom development and new sections where needed.
The remaining pages use the theme’s existing layouts and sections, customized with your branding, content, and imagery.
How soon can we start?
I would love to be able to start working with you ASAP, however my availability varies throughout the year. I recommend reaching out at least 1-2 months in advance of your ideal start date as I only work with a limited number of clients at a time.
As soon as you book with me, I'll get you started with onboarding so you can be working on content, photos, and organization so we're ready to roll on the start date.
What do I need to work with you?
For websites, it’s critical that you have professional branding and product/lifestyle photography. People "eat with their eyes" so good photography is crucial for your websites success.
Copy also helps to guide the website design process so it's nice to have upfront. However, this can be provided after we finalize the wireframes so you have a better understanding of what copy is needed on your website.
Will I be able to update the site myself?
I know you chose Shopify for a reason - likely because of how easy it is to manage your store and update your website using the theme customizer. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice the ability to update your website just because you want something more custom!
I’ve worked with lots of merchants who come to me frustrated with how inflexible their website is. They need to contact a developer for the smallest of changes!
I pride myself on creating custom sections and templates that are still easy to manage on the backend for you. Custom doesn’t have to mean complicated.
How does payment work?
The total project cost is split into payments. I offer a 35/35/30 or 50/50 fee structure.
The first payment is due upon booking (to reserve your spot on my schedule) and the final payment is due at project completion just before the website can be delivered.
We can discuss alternate payment structures if requested, but a non-refundable booking fee is always required before a project can begin.
You can pay by credit or debit card or via ACH bank transfers.
